Amber Gell, Rocket Scientist. HASSE
HASSE’s Space School Program invited one of NASA’s space system engineers, Amber S. Gell, who works for the Lockheed Martin Orion Project Team as one of the distinguished speakers to meet with our first session students. In a male dominated field, Amber Gell’s dedication and outstanding achievement has earned her the respect from her fellow scientists.
She teaches Spaceflight and Operations Training as part of Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University’s Commercial Space Operations Bachelor’s Degree Program. She has won awards for her accomplishments in space systems and educational outreach, including the 2010 Early Career Rotary National Award for Space Achievement and the 2013 Adler Planetarium Women in Space Science Award. She conducted an insightful presentation to HASSE’s all-female-student-based-audience. Gell’s high-energy and friendly style of encouragement to our students made this special presentation especially memorable to all those who were fortunate enough to be in the audience.
Nowhere else on earth can a teenager spend two weeks be inspried by cutting edge technologies like space related artificial intelligence and robotics, 3D printing objects in class, visiting Houston’s most iconic organizations such as Johnson Space Center and Ad Astra Rocket Company, all while forming personal relationships with the top astronauts, scientists and engineers of our time.
